Laser surgery is a relatively new technique, but in the hands of a qualified, experienced board-certified plastic surgeon, complications are infrequent and usually minor.
Possible risks that you should be aware of include:
Burns or other injury from the laser energy.
Scarring.
Undesirable changes in pigmentation.
Recurring herpes virus infections (cold sores).
Call your doctor immediately if after surgery you are experiencing increased redness and itching or if scarring appears abnormal. Early treatment is important.
