| Nasal Surgery (Rhinoplasty): Costs |
|
 |
Few insurance companies pay for rhinoplasty; however, if surgery is considered "medical" rather than cosmetic, for example, to correct a breathing problem, insurance may pay all or part of the fee.
There are three costs: - The surgeon's fee;
- Anesthesiologist's fee; and
- A facility charge
Fees vary nationwide but in 1998, the average surgeon's fee was $3,400 for an open rhinoplasty and $3,000 for a closed one. Total fees may be about $6,500 and up. In some states, fees are higher. In New York, the average physician fee (not including anesthesiology or facility fees) was $5,300 for open rhinoplasty and $4,700 for closed rhinoplasty.
