    INTRODUCTION
Also known as a brow lift, this procedure surgically alters the muscles and tissues that cause furrowing or drooping in the area above the eyes. By raising drooping eyelids and improving the horizontal 'frown' lines and deep furrows that can make a person appear angry, sad or tired, a forehead lift results in a smoother forehead and a more youthful appearance. A forehead lift may be performed in conjunction with a facelift to provide a smoother look to the entire face. If a patient has significant eyelid overhang, eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) may be performed at the same time.

Forehead lifts are the 11th most commonly performed cosmetic procedure in the United States. In 1998, 36,777 procedures were performed, a 61% increase since 1996 and a 172% increase since 1992.
